Весьма некстати он наталкивается на семейство хозяина и должен немедленно отвезти их обратно в город. Девушка ждет его в таверне. На обратной дороге Бруно несется на полной скорости и попадает в небольшую аварию. У Мариуччи нет денег; она вынуждена заночевать в таверне, а на рассвете возвращается в город благодаря доброте молодого сына хозяйки. Бруно потерял работу; он приходит в магазин, где работает Мариучча, чтобы попросить у нее прощения. Она дуется на Бруно. Бруно ищет работу по объявлениям. Их свадьба не за горами.► На уровне формы фильм, очевидно, является переходным звеном между Рельсами, Rotaie, 1929, и Господином Максом, Il signor Мах*, не менее знаменитыми фильмами Камерини, основанными, как и этот, на приключениях влюбленной пары. Рельсы, несмотря на последующее озвучивание, полностью подчиняются эстетике немого кинематографа. Лиричность и текучесть повествования обеспечивают абсолютную победу изображения над сюжетной конструкцией. В Господине Максе сюжетные повороты и диалоги проработаны гораздо лучше и пытаются яснее проявить личности и даже характеры персонажей. Здесь же, в крайне простом сюжете, Камерини плетет легкомысленные узоры из элегантных, чувственных, жеманных отношений между героями и в конечном счете внушает оптимизм. Фильм внимательно относится к поэзии сиюминутности, к эфемерным образам, но при этом старается преподнести зрителю значительные и более-менее откровенные диалоги; по этой причине он располагается на полпути между немым и звуковым кино. Что касается интонации, довольно трудно разобрать, что в подобной картине принадлежит эпохе, а что – автору. Скажем так: фильм обладает всеми отличительными чертами эпохи, отраженными в восприятии чуткого художника, живущего в согласии с этой эпохой. По крайней мере, в фильме можно обнаружить ту нежность, грациозность и легкость, то веселую, то грустную, что характерна для многих картин первых лет звукового периода, снятых европейцами в родных странах или за границей (см. Фейош, Матараццо, К. Рид, венгры, немцы). Это одна из главных интонаций эпохи. И в Италии она, возможно, была распространена больше, нежели в других европейских странах. Тому есть несколько причин. С 1 стороны, почти все первые итальянские звуковые картины основаны на едва набросанных сюжетах, больше подходящих для среднего, чем для полного метража. Как будто режиссеры сомневались, нужно ли полностью доверяться новому средству выразительности, и хотели для начала опробовать его на скромных и осторожных, ни к чему не обязывающих картинах. С другой стороны, в те годы итальянский кинематограф гораздо прохладнее, чем кино других стран (в особенности Франция), относился к направлению «киноспектакля». А киноспектакль, как правило, склонен заглушать легкость и грациозность, которым для полного расцвета необходим воздух, экстерьеры, непосредственность и даже импровизация.
